Welcome to the Chiefs Page.

I would like to welcome you to the Indialantic Fire Rescue web page. We are so pleased to finally have a web page where we can place informative information for our citizens and other viewers.

I have an interesting background in the fire service starting as a volunteer firefighter in 1963, at the age of 16 for the West Tisbury Fire Department in West Tisbury, Mass. This is a small town on Martha’s Vineyard Island off Cape Cod. At the age of 19 I moved to Clearwater Florida and was married. I joined the Largo Fire Department in 1970 and in 1973 became their first paramedic. I retired there in 1995 and in 1999 I took a position with Hamilton County as their EMS Director and Fire Coordinator. In 2001 I took a position with the Flagler Beach Fire Department as their Fire Chief and remained there until 2004 when the Town of Indialantic hired me.

I have had extensive training as a paramedic, Haz-Mat, as well as fire. I am certified as an instructor, inspector, and a live fire burn instructor. I am currently taking classes to become an arson investigator. I still hold my original Paramedic certification from the State of Florida.

As to this department, it is my honest belief that I currently work with some of the best firefighters in the industry. My staff members are by far the most dedicated and responsible members of any department I have been affiliated with. It is with great pleasure that I have found this department to spend the last of my working years.

We provide a number of services for the community including Advanced Life Support Response, Ocean Rescue, along with standard fire protection and just about anything else our community would like for us to do. We are committed to strong customer service and participate in many events like Halloween, Christmas and Easter events. We work closely with our Police Department with National Night Out. We have a smoke detector program and sponsor Via Radio as an alerting system for our citizens in the event of an emergency or bad weather. Since we are on the East coast of Florida about 20 miles South of the Kennedy Space Center our coast is very vulnerable to hurricanes.

Please enjoy our web page and feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our department. Our phone number is 321-723-0366.
